The Energy Management Professional (EMP) 101 course is comprehensive energy management training for professionals with diverse backgrounds, including both generalists and specialists.

Over three days, you gain a solid foundation in energy management and energy use, explore technical aspects related to energy consuming systems and potential energy savings, and develop the skills necessary to apply energy management practices in organizations, including the mobilization of personnel and the implementation of standards such as ISO 50001.

EMP 101 is an ideal course for experienced professionals that wish to comprehensively understand energy management, newcomers to either Canada or the energy efficiency industry, and those looking to enhance their technical knowledge. Many participants find that this program offers advantages to their current and future roles. Additionally, it can serve as a stepping stone to the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation, which is typically pursued after accumulating at least three years of industry experience.

  • Define the principles, systems, codes, and regulations of energy efficiency.
  • Conduct basic calculations, benchmarking, and audits on building energy consumption.
  • List factors to take in consideration to identify potential energy savings in buildings.
