How did you get your start in Energy Management?

I began in 2001 as Energy Manager at The Ottawa Hospital.

What are you most proud of in your career?

Carbon footprint reduction to the organization, incentives collected, and budget control.

What have you seen as the greatest change in your industry?

Energy modelling – helping to select the best options.

What is one thing you want to communicate with other professionals in the industry?

Energy should be factored in procurement and planning for capital projects.

How do you see new carbon restriction tools (cap and trade, carbon pricing, etc.) affecting decision relating to energy?

It will direct the projects to save gas, not hydro.

What is the best training or education you have received?

CEM and PMP.

How can a certification from your workshop benefit someone in their career?

The BOC training is a great opportunity for participants to increase awareness of their building.
