Over the past 4 years, CIET has been offering training to help individuals grow their careers in residential energy via the Prep Course for the NRCan Foundation Level Exam and the Prep Course for the NRCan Energy Advisor Exam (House). Now, with the rising demand for Energy Advisors, as part of the Canada Green Homes Program, there has been an increase in professionals looking to pivot their careers towards Residential Energy Advisor roles.
To support new and existing NRCan-registered Energy Advisors, CIET has developed 4 courses to aid Energy Advisors in their knowledge of probationary files, case studies of complex homes, the HOT2000 software and Multi-Unit Residential Buildings.
Building on the knowledge that participants will have gained by completing Energy Advisor training, this advanced course uses a case study of a home with unique features to focus learning on the data entry and modelling involved. Beyond filing a probationary file, this course goes into a detailed and in-depth review of upgrade options for the building envelope, key benefits and considerations, as well as an analysis of financial and greenhouse gas emissions for available upgrade options.

The Multi-Unit Residential Building (MURB) exam is separate from the Energy Advisor Exam, and it is required if you are planning on conducting an evaluation on this type of building (a residential building, three or fewer storey in height, and a building that does not exceed 600 m2.) This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and tools needed in order to take on the MURB exam.
