As part of its commitment to increase the number of professionals who successfully become Registered Energy Advisors (REA), CIET has produced two free supplemental energy study guides – one for the Foundational Level Exam and one for the Energy Advisor Exam - which are vendor agnostic and unaffiliated with any third-party vendors.

Encompassing both exercises and additional information beyond what is available online or through reviewing the EnerGuide or Competency profiles, the purpose of these guides is to help more individuals study for and succeed in passing the two exams necessary in order to become a Registered Energy Advisor.

The guides have been compiled based on participant feedback and challenging areas identified by NRCan over the years from both the Foundational and Energy exams, primarily in the areas of Numeracy, Construction and renovation of low-rise housing, Building Envelope, HVAC and Building Science Principles.

CIET would also like to recognize the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), Knowenergy, and the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) for their support and respective contributions to the guides.
