CIET was invited to speak at the Industrial Energy Optimization Program (IEOP) Conference by SaskPower between October 17-18th, 2017, where Olivier Cappon delivered a presentation on the Missing Link in Energy Savings: The Human Factor, focusing on the impact of effect of human behaviour on the operations and maintenance of buildings and facilities, and therefore, energy use.
True to the general reality in Saskatchewan, most of the companies who attended the training were in the natural resource extraction industry, with uranium mining and potash being front and centre. Companies in this industry have been fairly active in implementing energy efficiency projects through facility retrofits of varying types.
Two of the most common elements in most of the presentations were the recognition of the importance of top down support for EE within an organization and the importance of tackling EE projects in manageable phases.
