CIET attended the 2019 Energizing Efficiency Conference May 7 and 8 in Moncton, New Brunswick. The conference, hosted by NB Power, provided its 300 attendees with good networking opportunities and engaging speakers who shared their knowledge on best practices, trends, new technologies and strategies in energizing efficiency.

If you weren't able to attend this year's conference, NB Power put together a list of key takeaways from the speakers. These key takeaways include:

  • Energy efficiency touches every sector of the economy, including job creation

  • Marketing energy efficiency homes requires: appealing to homeowners’ desire for a comfortable and healthier home for their families, emphasizing the cool factor, and making the business case for energy bills and higher property values

  • Building recommissioning for commercial buildings offers huge opportunities to save energy, decrease maintenance costs and promote tenant satisfaction and retention

  • Energy is the starting point for municipalities to meet their climate objectives

  • If you want to successfully sell services, products, equipment or programs in the energy efficiency sector, you need to learn to frame your offering using language and metrics that mean something to your customer
