CIET was both an exhibitor and an active participant in this year’s BOMEX conference, which took place in Calgary from October 1-3. This annual conference put on by BOMA Canada (Building Owners and Managers Association) is one of the premier events for the commercial building industry. The considerable snowstorm of close to 40cms did not deter the mood of conference attendees, who took part in sessions on resilience and emergency preparedness strategy, the application of disruptive and smart technologies in the sector, what a low-carbon future means for commercial real estate industry, energy star integration and more.

We were especially happy to hear from Natural Resources Canada’s Assistant Deputy Minister, Jay Khosla, who spoke about the many opportunities for energy efficiency (EE) that exist in the commercial real estate sector, and how they are supported by various regional EE programs, recognized through awards such as the Net Zero Challenge. Through its capacity building and training programs, CIET is part of this same effort to promote energy efficiency to reduce both operational expenses and emissions.

CIET would like to congratulate Lloyd Suchet, John Smiciklas, Aydan Aslan and the rest of the BOMA Calgary team for a productive conference.

I agree to receive electronic messages (newsletters, information, invitations, offers) from CIET. I reserve the right to withdraw my consent at any time.
