Program Overview

The Embodied Carbon Accounting is a comprehensive two-day course designed specifically for sustainability, environment, and decarbonization professionals. This course delves into the technical aspects of identifying, measuring, and strategically reducing embodied carbon in both consumed goods within organizational procedures and building constructions as well as renovations.

The course begins by dissecting the concept of embodied carbon, offering a detailed understanding of its significance in the institutional and commercial sectors. Technical sessions dive into methodologies for calculating and managing embodied carbon in consumed goods, procurement strategies to replace carbon-intensive materials with low-carbon alternatives, and practical insights into reducing carbon emissions during the building construction and renovation phases. Participants gain an in-depth understanding of how to establish organizational policies aligned with greenhouse gas reduction objectives and harness embodied carbon projects to maximize organizational and structural efficiency. Moreover, the course emphasizes the crucial link between embodied carbon and waste disposal, offering strategies rooted in the principles of the circular economy to minimize waste and lower carbon footprints.

The course engages participants in hands-on activities, including group exercises focused on procurement decisions aligned with carbon reductions and workshops to initiate tailored strategies for reducing embodied carbon in specific institutional or commercial settings. Interactive sessions offer participants the chance to collaborate in developing actionable plans while receiving guidance and expert advice.
