Building energy modelling is a key process used in the retrofit design, code compliance, and real-time building control for commercial and institutional buildings. The modelling process permits modellers to include factors such as building performance, climate, construction materials, architectural design, HVAC, and building analysis.
Designed for those who have completed the Building Energy Modelling Essentials course and are familiar with basic modelling concepts, this two-day Energy Modelling Professional course focuses on introducing participants to EnergyPlus, the most advanced energy modelling software developed by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
The course is designed to teach participants about EnergyPlus and OpenStudio, which are energy modeling tools used to analyze the energy performance of buildings. Participants will also learn how to use SketchUp, a popular 3D modeling software, to create building models that can be exported to EnergyPlus via OpenStudio for energy simulation and analysis. During Day 1, participants will get hands-on experience on the software by setting themselves up for success. Day 2 provides interactive modelling case studies that participants work through and complete with coaching and assistance from our instructor.
The Building Energy Modelling Professional course provides you with the tools you need to execute energy modelling projects and achieve compliance for buildings. You will also benefit from completing case studies that will reinforce your knowledge and understanding of energy modelling.
