Program Overview

CAN-QUEST is a Canadian adaptation of eQUEST. This energy modelling software can assess and demonstrate performance path compliance with the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings 2011 (NECB 2011). In order to make this course more powerful, the instructor will reference the E-Quest software.

These tools can also be used to support the design of high performance commercial, institutional, or residential buildings. This 2-day, hands-on workshop will provide participants with specific training on these softwares, explore their features, and will review the entire energy modelling process, which can be applied to any reference standard/code.

We strongly suggest that both tools be installed before the course from the links below:

eQuest: http://www.doe2.com/equest/

Upon training completion, participants will be able to:

  • Use both CAN-QUEST and eQuest as a compliance tool
  • Prepare an energy model in CAN-QUEST or eQuest
  • Use Wizards to set up the energy models
  • Use Detailed Mode for complete energy modelling for code compliance or to optimize a building design
  • Understand DOE reporting and how to complete key calculations
  • Complete an energy analysis for a simple design

Do you need to understand the basics of energy modelling or review the process for administrative purposes? Our 1-day Introduction to Building Energy Modelling will provide you with the knowledge you need.

COVID-19 Information for CIET Winter-Spring 2021 Training Calendar – CIET Goes Virtual!

Last Updated: January 6, 2021

CIET Goes Virtual!

With more than 90 virtual real-time courses offered since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis under our belt, and based on feedback received from more than 800 participants, CIET is happy to inform that all public training sessions offered in the winter-spring of 2021 will still be delivered through virtual real-time classrooms.

This will allow everyone to continue accessing CIET training in a safe manner, which protects both our participants and our trainers, regardless of what happens with the pandemic. You can register for these virtual courses in confidence, knowing that they will provide the same quality of training that you expect from CIET. These real-time training sessions will be available to all participants across Canada, and abroad.

You can find more information about CIET’s virtual training approach:

Through all these measures, CIET hopes to provide as much flexibility as possible to training participants while respecting its commitments to other participants, trainers and partners, as well as public health recommendations.

We thank you very much for your trust and collaboration and look forward to welcoming you in our virtual classrooms!
