CIET - TRAINING CONTENT SPECIALIST: JOB OVERVIEW

Founded in 1996, the Canadian Institute for Energy Training (CIET) offers a vast array of sustainable energy training programs in Canada and throughout the world. It specializes in providing high-level training programs and certifications in energy management and energy efficiency. CIET has proudly been a leader for 25 years.

 

JOB OVERVIEW

 

Under the supervision of CIET’s Executive Director, the Training Content Specialist is expected to ensure training materials and training delivery meet the satisfaction of our participants, who are mostly technical professionals who have an expectation of technical accuracy and quality from our materials.

 

MAIN DUTIES

 

  • Strategically reflect upon how to continuously improve the experience of our participants and trainers as it relates to:
    • Our online platforms and websites,
    • The in-person and virtual training experience,
    • The training materials (slides, workbooks, exercises, supplementary documents),
    • Monitor and incorporate andragogical best practices for training professional adult learners, particularly in sectors related to energy efficiency;
  • Oversee the process of updating, improving and creating training material based on a global assessment of the feedback received from participants, trainers and partners;
  • Manage the development of new courses;
  • Manage the development of private courses requiring customization – of exercises, of participant materials, of course objectives;
  • Be the main point of contact for CIET trainers and support them in improving their training delivery by utilizing internal or external resources;
  • Liaise with instructors to buttress key course concepts with individual and peer-based exercises to foster engagement.

 

REQUIRED PROFILE

  • University degree and at least five years of experience in training, curriculum development, e-learning, or content development/creation;
  • Significant work experience in either creating/writing technical content or coordinating the development of technical training materials;
  • Experience or training/certification in energy efficiency;
  • Perfectly bilingual in English/French and a great capacity to communicate in both languages, both written and oral;
  • Great ability to listen and be responsive to participant and instructor feedback;
  • High level of diplomacy;
  • Experience in coordinating staff/project management considered an asset.
