October was a busy month for CIET in Halifax. First, CIET’s Making the Case for Energy Efficiency had a full class of participants with lead trainer, Stephen Dixon, and CIET’s Olivier Cappon. After the workshop, course participants met other energy efficiency and sustainability professionals at the Auction House for CIET Connect. Finally, CIET attended the Bright Business Conference and Awards as a sponsor.

5 Key Takeaways from Halifax’s Making the Case for Energy Efficiency workshop

1.   The strategies captured in the Making the Case program are applicable to the residential industry, not just commercial and institutional.
2.   Non-energy benefits are often the driving force behind securing and making energy efficiency projects successful.
3.   The longer the life-cycle of the project, the more important it is to move away from simple payback methodology and toward return on investment.
4.   Simply put, energy efficiency is a good investment.
5.   The Contracting and Trade Ally community can be a driving force in the promotion of energy efficiency activities and outreach.
