Overview

The Introduction to Measurement and Verification course is aimed at developing an understanding of the main elements of energy savings measurement and verification (M&V) and is targeted at general practitioners, experts, and managers. Whether for energy efficiency projects, regional efficiency programs, or internal projects, evaluating the performance of energy conservation measures serves to demonstrate project success, improve installation operations, obtain financial assistance, and raise awareness among installation users.

This one-day training presents the basic M&V concepts and outlines the impacts and roles of each M&V step. Practical examples are presented throughout the course to increase participant understanding.

Whether you are an experienced professional wishing to acquire overall knowledge about M&V principles, or an informed manager that wants to understand the M&V steps in relation to energy efficiency projects, this introductory M&V course provides the foundational knowledge required to apply M&V concepts.

  • Define M&V
  • Contextualize the use of M&V
  • Understand the circumstances in which M&V protocols are used
  • Determine the positive impacts of M&V
  • Justify the pertinence of an energy efficiency project

Audience

  • Energy efficiency industry professionals
  • Energy efficiency program and project managers
  • Building and installation managers wanting to associate themselves with energy service companies (ESCOs) to implement energy efficiency projects
  • Building owners wanting to understand measured project energy savings
  • Building operators and supervisors
  • Building maintenance staff
