The industrial and commercial sectors are increasingly recognizing the importance of addressing their full carbon footprint, not just what happens within their walls, but across their entire value chains. Scope 3 emissions, which include indirect upstream and downstream activities such as purchased goods, business travel, and product end-of-life impacts, often represent the largest share of an organization’s climate impact.
To support professionals in developing the competencies needed to take action, CIET is offering a one-day training on scope 3 emissions accounting. This course provides a practical introduction to identifying, estimating, quantifying, and managing Scope 3 emissions in accordance with international standards and best practices.
This interactive training session will help participants understand the significance of Scope 3 emissions in decarbonization strategies, navigate the GHG Protocol’s 15 categories of Scope 3 emissions, and explore real-world examples of Scope 3 data collection and reduction planning. Participants will engage with short case studies and hands-on exercises to support knowledge retention and real-world application. This course supports organizations that are aiming to set science-based targets, develop credible net-zero plans, or respond to investor and regulatory expectations around full value chain emissions.

We have had great success with the NRCan Foundation Level Exam Exam Prep course and the Making the Case for Energy Management Projects. We look forward to offering more training programs to our trade allies.
The Foundation Level Exam Prep Course was very insightful, well structured and delivered, and the compilation of resources was extremely helpful. This was an exceptional training experience. Money well spent. I am glad I chose CIET for preparing the NRCan Foundation Level Exam.
The Becoming Carbon Neutral course helped frame the opportunities and challenges our customers and our own organization are going to face in becoming carbon neutral. It has served as a foundation, enabling our teams to better support our customers as they move through the process and be part of the solution.
In our experience, CIET courses deliver a great foundation for all energy professionals—at any stage of their career or experience level. We were very satisfied with the facilitation and received positive feedback from QuadReal participants. It is a pleasure to work with CIET.
A couple of months back, I was an unemployed immigrant new graduate looking for learning opportunities to enhance my skills when one of my friends shared with me about the discounted price for the Energy Management Professional 101 (EMP) course during this pandemic. I am really happy about what CIET is doing now. You guys are impacting so many young professionals like me.
My background in energy efficiency was primarily at the industrial process level, so I chose to train with CIET to expand my knowledge on building energy systems. I completed the Advanced Course on Existing Building Commissioning (EBCx) as well as the two courses on Building Automation Systems. The new concepts I learned, enhanced by the knowledge of the trainers and the other participants, quickly helped me identify opportunities relating to energy, comfort, and maintenance, most often "low cost" ones.
