The World Energy Engineering Congress (WEEC) was held in Atlanta, Georgia September 26-29. As a major conference and exposition for US and international stakeholders, WEEC provides a platform to exchange and accelerate energy-saving ideas.

The 40th anniversary event appeared to attract an audience larger than in previous years. Guest invitee President George W. Bush provided interesting insight into international diplomacy.

Many great speakers followed him on stage, including Paul Bowers, CEO of Georgia, and Kofi Smith, CEO of Atlanta Airlines Terminal Corporation. These speakers offered lively and interesting presentations.

Kofi's team has been able to generate more than $1 million of recurring energy savings by working closely with an energy consultant since 2016. This is a great example of the work many of CIET's participants do on a daily basis and should reinforce the cost-effectiveness of energy efficiency, as well as its top role in helping us fight climate change.

WEEC also held the AEE Energy Managers Hall of Fame induction ceremony, honouring Doug Tripp as an outstanding leader in the energy industry.
